Dynamic pricing with pricing rules and price optimisation
Prisvogter calculates price suggestions based on your products, competitors and business rules. You choose the pricing strategy, profitability requirements, limits and degree of automation.
The market changes faster than prices can be assessed manually
When prices, stock availability and campaigns change across many products, manual assessments become slow and inconsistent. Timely responses become harder without losing sight of gross margins.
How to build a pricing rule
The choices are connected. Click a step to see what your company controls at that point in the setup.
Which products should the rule apply to?
The rule can apply to the entire range or selected product groups, filtered using data relevant to your business.
Select the workflow for the rule
A competitor rule follows market prices, a campaign rule manages promotional periods and a currency rule is based on a specific competitor.
Choose the price level to follow
For competitor rules, select the valid competitor price to use as a reference and whether your price should be above or below it.
The price must stay within your financial limits
Choose whether the minimum is measured as gross margin, contribution margin or markup. The selected measure becomes a calculation limit.
Add relevant market conditions
Choose competitors, stock availability, shipping, promotional or regular prices, and the rounding applied after calculation.
Review the calculation before using it
Review the products covered, price changes, impact and each calculation step. Warnings and limitations must be visible.
Choose the level of automation
Send suggestions for manual approval or have them approved automatically. The rule can be activated later and assigned a priority.
Different rules for different tasks
Prisvogter only shows options relevant to the selected rule. Regular and promotional prices do not necessarily follow the same workflow.
Calculate using competitors
Use competitor prices as input, select a price level and protect your minimum profitability. The workflow can vary depending on whether the rule manages regular or promotional prices.
- Reference price and competitor focus
- Stock, shipping and selected competitors
- Minimum GM, contribution margin or markup
- Price adjustments and rounding
Manage promotions within clear limits
A campaign rule is based on products and a period. It can manage promotional periods and define what happens when the promotion ends.
- Promotional products and period
- Minimum profitability for the promotional price
- Rounding of the promotional price
Adjust prices from a competitor
A currency rule uses a selected store as its basis and can calculate using a fixed or daily exchange rate. Other pricing strategies are not part of this workflow.
- Select competitor
- Fixed or daily exchange rate
- Approval and activation
Choose the price level the rule should respond to
Three competitor prices can provide different reference points. The strategy determines which price is used, while gross margin determines how far the rule can go.
Lowest competitor price within margin
The rule finds the lowest valid competitor price but skips prices whose result would breach your minimum price.
Lowest-priced competitor
The rule uses the lowest competitor price as a reference even if it is below your minimum. The selected fallback determines what happens next.
Second-cheapest competitor
The rule ignores the cheapest competitor and uses the second-lowest valid price when this is the selected market position.
Majority price level
The rule considers the price level shared by or closest to the most competitors, rather than following just one competitor.
Highest competitor price within margin
The rule follows the highest valid competitor price if it remains within your specified margin.
Rules can target the right products
The filter defines which products the rule covers.
Example product filter
This rule applies to products where:
Use your product data
Select the entire range or precise product groups using the filters available in your dataset.
Prices can change – profitability must remain protected
Minimum gross margin, contribution margin or markup can calculate a minimum price. Recommended retail prices, maximums and fallbacks can be added where supported by the rule and price type.

Competitors, stock and shipping in one setup
A price suggestion is more useful when the rule knows which competitors and price information may be included.
Choose your data sources
Use all competitors, select specific competitors or exclude specific competitors to create a comparison basis suited to your products.
Define what counts
Shipping can be included, and the rule can have a clear action when no valid reference price is found.
Promotional periods with control over previous prices and rules
When the rule is activated, the product goes on promotion. Prisvogter tracks the promotional period and can then restore the regular price, restart the promotion after a break or use the promotional price as the new regular price.
- Set the start and end of the promotional period
- Track the relevant previous price and price trends
- Choose the price or break after the promotion
Find the price level with the best overall profitability
Price optimisation examines how small price changes affect both profit per sale and the number of sales. The aim is to find the best balance within the limits already set in your rule.
Lower profit per item
Risk of fewer sales
Review price suggestions before activating the rule
Before activating the rule, review the products covered, see calculated price suggestions and identify any limitations.
| Product | Current price | Suggested price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product A | €67 | €62 | Ready |
| Product B | €40 | €41 | Ready |
| Product C | €107 | €107 | No change |
Review the result, then decide whether to activate the rule.
Automation is a choice – not a requirement
Start with manual approval and switch to automatic approval later. If multiple rules cover the same product, the rule with the highest priority applies.
The lowest priority number takes precedence. If multiple rules cover the same product, priority determines which rule applies.
